| G.T. Identification Process |
| The Edgewood Independent School District Board (EHBB LEGAL & LOCAL) has approved the following identification procedures and process for the EDGES program.These procedures meet state requirements (§29.121 & TAC 89.1) and have been planned to ensure the identification of students from linguistically and culturally diverse populations. Teachers, parents, community members, peers, test scores or students may nominate a student for the program. Nomination forms (in English and Spanish) are available at all campuses, at Guerra Development Center in the Gifted and Talented Office. Forms can be mailed upon request. Nominations will be taken through December 2, 2011 and submitted to the GT Office by 3:45 on December 6, 2011. Only completed nomination packets will be considered for a nominee to continue in the selection process. K-12 Requirements for Nomination are as follows: 1) Nomination Form with Anecdotal Information 2) Creativity Checklist The GT Office will prepare Selection Folders for each nominee. Nominees will receive a Permission-To-Test Form along with a Parent Checklist during December 2011. Only students with parental permission will continue with the screening process. Testing will be coordinated by the GT Specialists and conducted by trained personnel on each campus.Students will be selected for the program based upon multiple and specific criteria that are consistent with the areas served in the program. |
