STAAR ReadyPosted by Marissa Perez at 4/9/2015
As we enter the final days before the STAAR test, I am delighted at the progress of my students. These children have worked hard all year and they are ready to show what they know! We have had so many conversations about how important their education is to their future goals and they are taking ownership of their learning. I am reminded daily of why I chose this profession and how much I love to work with these students. For some this is our second year together and we are a very close group. Thank you to the parents, former teachers, and support staff for helping our students develop into the independent thinkers that they are today. GO MUSTANGS!
Expository WritingPosted by Marissa Cisneros at 10/16/2012 3:30:00 PM
Expository WritingWe have had great progress with expository writing this past couple of weeks! The students are really engaged and using fun ideas for Prewriting to help get the facts organized. To correlate with "Diary of a Spider" we used actual spiders as our prewriting map. I have attached pictures of students samples. 2nd grade is the perfect age to develop a love of writing. If we make this fun for them now, they will not see writing as a chore but as a fun extension of their learning.
