I teach Second Grade here at HBG and we have lots of fun learning!
My goal is for every student to leave my class feeling that he or she can conquer the world.
In Second Grade, we focus on reading skills. Your child will learn effective reading strategies to decode unknown words. We also focus on vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Do you understand what you just read? Why do you think this is important? These are questions your Second Grader should be asking when reading a text.
Please read with your child every day.
t is very important to practice reading because this is where fluency and accuracy are being learned. You can read anything with your child. You can read a book, a magazine, billboards, newspaper ads, the things that are printed on food containers...the possibilities are endless!
Why is reading important?
Because it opens the doors to the world and to the future. You can't really use the Internet unless you know how to read. You can't solve a math problem unless you can read the problem. This is why it is important for your child to focus on reading. Practice, practice, practice!
We are going to have a fun, challenging and exciting year in Mrs. A's class.
