Expectations:

Homework
Fourth graders need to develop good study habits, responsibility and organizational skills.

It will help a great deal if a particular time and place is set aside each day for quiet reading and homework.
This year, math, reading, and writing homework will be assigned nightly, and should be returned completed the following morning.  Your child will soon be bringing home a book at his/her reading level.  In addition to the leveled book, your child will need to select and read books (chapter books) at home.  This reading should take approximately 30minutes.

Travel Folder

Each day, your child will bring home a purple "Travel Folder.”
This folder will contain important school and community information as well as your
child’s work. Parents should check the travel folder daily for student behavior and homework.
The "Travel Folder” includes a homework chart and should be signed and returrned
every day.

Conferences

My conference time is at 12:40– 1:25.  If you wish to meet with me, please call the
office and schedule an appointment.

Attendance

All students must be waiting for me in the cafeteria by 7:25 every morning.   I will
walk the students to the computer lab at 7:30 for
Reflex Math.

Children are NOT to be waiting for me by the classroom.
It is an expectation that ALLstudents arrive before the start of the school day.

Have your child at school every day.
Children cannot learn the fourth grade curriculum if he/she is not in school.

Uniforms
Uniforms must be worn daily.  If you need to purchase a spirit shirt, you may order
         one through the office.
Please read the student  handbook for more information. Students
may bring a jacket to leave in the classroom. The classroom can get chilly at times.

Parent Volunteers

I love volunteers!  You, as parents, can make this a rewarding year for the children.
You are the greatest resource to our boys  and girls at Gardendale Elementary.
If you would like to help us out in the classroom, please contact
our campus parent volunteers.
