Students helped create an ofrenda or altar for the holiday displayed at the Edgewood Fine Arts Academy Art Gallery. The altar was presented in honor of Elsa Padilla, an old time college friend who passed away this summer.

The 2nd graders created the skulls decorating the  altar background. The third graders created the skeletons dancing in front of the altar. The fourth graders created the skull forms resting on the altar and the shimmering candles. Some fifth graders helped create the papel picado filling in the background.

Hope you get a chance to go see all of the beautiful altars displayed there soon...

Mayor's Veg Art Contest  The  Mayor's office has announced an art contest about eating healthy!

Students in grades 1-5 drew fruits and vegetables as superheros showing how they are good for you by strengthening your body!

Come to the Gardendale cafeteria and see the great job our students have done. The top drawing will be entered in the contest

and students may win a brand new bicycle. Grand prize winner in the contest will have their picture displayed on a San Antonio

billboard. What a great way to encourage children to eat healthy and take care of their body. Wish us luck!
