Heart disease is a topic of concern among active teens throughout Texas.  Once thought to be exceedingly rare, sudden cardiac death is far more prevalent among young athletes than previously believed. While it can strike those who are sedentary, the risk is up to three times greater in competitive athletes.  Many heart disorders are detectable with a simple screening process. An AugustHeart screening takes about 20 minutes and involves collecting height and weight measurements, testing blood pressure, performing a 12-lead ECG and performing a limited ECHO.
