    Blogs are excellent forums for communication. They can be used with parents, other teachers, and students. In using it with students, you are giving them a global audience for their work and addressing several content and technology application standards. Here are some resources on blogs:

  • Hispanic Heritage Month Student Products

    From September 15th to October 15th, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

    Last year, I created two student projects that I wanted to share with you. I had 6th graders create a travel brochure on countries of Hispanic origin and 7th and 8th graders created a brochure on a notable Hispanic. I based these projects on the district technology benchmarks and the technology application TEKS from last year. The TA TEKS have changed this year and I understand that you are not middle school teachers, but I thought some of the resources and ideas might still be valid. I have given you links to the pages I created to explain the projects to the students. On the pages, you will find examples, rubrics, weblinks, etc. Please let me know if I can assist you in developing similar projects.

  • Teachers and Computer Lab

    Welcome to the Instructional Technology blog. I want this to be a place where we can exchange ideas about technology integration in the classroom and computer lab.
     
    When planning for technology integration in the lab and classroom, be sure you refer to the revised Elementary Technology Application TEKS.
     
    Since the Technology Application TEKS were revised, the district benchmarks you were accustomed to having your students do are no longer aligned to the TEKS.
     
    You will soon have access to www.learning.com, an online curriculum for technology, that is aligned to the current TEKS. Many of you are familiar with this product. However, I have heard that it has changed. Within the curriculum system are embedded student products and STAAR items. Once it is available, you can use it in your classroom in centers or in the computer lab.  I am hoping we can select some products from this system in lieu of the district benchmarks we once used.
     
    Until www.learning.com becomes available, I would suggest creating technology based lessons for the computer lab that satisfy performance indicators for units you are studying in CSCOPE. I would be more than happy to share with you ways to take performance indicators and turn them into a technology assignment or product.
