Jazz Ensemble (Stage Band):

The Jazz ensemble is for any band student who would like to learn the art of Jazz. In this class we discuss Jazz history, Jazz Theory, and Improvisation. Students will spend time listening and evaluating recordings of Jazz musicians past and present. Students will learn the art of Improvisation and write their own solo's for performance.

Marching Band:

The Mighty Rocket Band is the award winning marching band at JFK. We begin in the summer as we prepare for UIL Marching competition. The band also performs at football games, and Fiesta Events in the spring. Students enrolled in marching band are expected to be at all rehearsals and performances. All schedules for Summer band, after school rehearsals, and performances will be posted on the Rocket Band web page.

Concert Band:

The concert band is the second of two Symphonic performance ensembles. We prepare for UIL Concert and sightreading in April. Students are expected to prepare music and attend sectionals either in the morning or afternoon in addition to normal rehearsals.

Applied Music:

Applied music is for students who would either like extra practice time in preparation for all-region band or students who would like to learn a new instrument.
