E. Interactive Notebooks These notebooks will be used to keep all work done in class and are to remain in the classroom. Student journals will be graded for content every three weeks. Students will not be allowed to take these journals home unless given prior approval. If you would like your child to take their journal home before an exam, please contact me to make arrangements. Students will be responsible for bringing their journals back. . F. Back Packs & School Supplies As soon as students enter the classroom, students will be prompted to get any materials they will need for the day out of their backpacks and place their backpacks in a designated area. Students will not be allowed to go back to their backpacks until the end of the class period. G. Academic Integrity Academic integrity is of utmost important in my classroom and cheating will not be tolerated and will immediately earn a 0. If a student is falling behind and they are in need of help, please instruct them to come to tutoring! It is better to receive a 50 on an assignment and make it up, than to receive a 0 on an assignment and not be able to change it. Hard work pays off.
IV. CLASS GOALS It is my goal to prepare students for the world outside of academia. Learning does not end in the classroom but instead extends itself to the world beyond. I will endeavor to transfer my passion for learning to your students and do all that I can to prepare them for the next grade. It is my goal for students to reach mastery of the TEKS as will be determined inside the classroom. My goal is for students to engage in higher level thinking. My expectation is for every student to show growth on my assignments.
V. CONCLUSION I cannot sufficiently express the importance of your role in your child’s education. Educating a child means educating and raising the future of our communities, nation and world. This is a huge responsibility, and I believe in order to do it right, everyone must be invested in the life of that child; it is a group effort. Your involvement in your child’s education is crucial and I will do everything within my power to keep you informed on the progress your child makes in my classroom. If you should ever have any questions, concerns or just want to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to contact me. I have provided the school’s phone number and my email address above.
