Meet the Campus Testing Coordinator...

Hello and welcome back to a new school year. My name is Cindy Serrano.  I am the Campus Testing Coordinator (CCRCC) for Memorial and I'd like to let you know a little bit about who I am.

I feel very fortunate to still have both of my parents with me.  My father is a retired military soldier and my mother is a retired book keeper.  Because my father was in the Air Force, we moved around a lot when I was younger.  I must say though, one of the benefits of being a "military brat" is that we got to live in some pretty interesting places, such as Italy and Germany.  It also provided us the opportunity to see other countries located close by.

With 5 girls in our household, we thought it would be impossible for me to go to college, but somehow, my parents made it happen.  I attended Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University), where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, with specializations in English and Learning Disabilities.  I chose to further my education by attending Our Lady of the Lake University and received my Master of Arts degree in Special Education with a certification in Behavior Disorders in 1988.

I am starting on my 29th year working for the Edgewood School District.  I started out teaching at Emma Frey Elementary as a Special Education teacher and moved on to become an elementary classroom teacher.  After 12 years at the elementary level, I felt that I was ready to try something new, so I transferred to Truman Middle School and taught 8th grade English and Reading for 6 years.  During my last 3 years at Truman, I served as the Instructional Facilitator, otherwise known as an I.F.  I finally decided to "graduate" into big time by going to Memorial High School.  I served as a Special Education Facilitator and and am currently working as the Campus Testing Coordinator (CTC.)

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me through email or a phone call.
