PACES

Program for Acceleration of Curriculum for Excellence and Scholarship

The district offers a unique program for students who are struggling or getting behind in school due to outside factors.  The course is entitled Program for Acceleration of Curriculum for Excellence and Scholarship, or PACES.  This program allows students to attend school at a different campus located on 900 South San Eduardo Street; however, the students are still considered Memorial High School students.  They still are expected to adhere to the Memorial dress code and Code of Conduct regulations.

One unique quality about this program is that students are only required to attend school for four hours a day.  Before the students are accepted into the program, they, along with their parents/guardians are interviewed by their counselor and me to ensure that this is a good “fit” for everyone.

One key factor to keep in mind about this program is that it is mostly computer based and self-paced.  The curriculum the district has chosen to use is entitled e2020.  This curriculum is research based and has proven to be effective for other districts in San Antonio.

Who can attend PACES?

Any student who is:
  • Over age
  • Under credited, but must have at least 7 credits
  • Recommended by staff member
  • Attending school on a regular basis
  • Approved by the Universal Review Committee to attend PACES
  • Comfortable using a computer
