About the Teacher
Mr. Root

My name is Robert Root, and I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After attending Macarthur High School, I went to Georgetown University in Washington DC and received a degree in International Relations, Law, Structure, and Organization.

This is my fourth year at Memorial High School and my twelfth year teaching overall. In addition to teaching Professional Communications and Debate, I am the School's UIL Coordinator and coach all UIL speech and debate events. This year we had several students place and qualify for regionals in speech events.   I also coached state champions in 2006 and 2007.  I was also selected as Memorial's Teacher of the Year in 2013.

I am a strong believer that students learn better when they are at school, on time, and engaged. Please make an effort to remain in class as much as possible. Professional Communications and Debate can be challenging classes, but I will work hard to help all of my students find success.
