• The Holiday Birthday Conundrum

Posted by Jesse Rodriguez at 1/2/2013 10:35:00 PM
As many of you know, my birthday comes right after Christmas and that was a problem for me growing up. As my older siblings were given amazing gifts on their birthdays and on Christmas, I was always given the choice of "two small presents for Christmas and my birthday or one big present." Naturally, I wanted the one big present, but as I got older, I realized that I was the only person in my family having to deal with this issue. Now I ask you, if you were in my shoes, what choice would you make and explain why?

As we take our first steps into 2013, it is important that we take some time to look back at the year that was. Be reflective and think about the most memorable moment of 2012. This moment can be personal or it could be major news of 2012, it is up to you.

  • If only high school students were allowed to vote

Posted by Jesse Rodriguez at 12/17/2012 6:00:00 PM
The minimum age to vote in our country is eighteen, so most of the political propaganda, and the political discussions and decisions are based on the age of the voting public with little regard to the thoughts, beliefs, and ideas of our teen population. What if things were different and the only people allowed to vote were between the ages of fourteen and eighteen? How would that change the thought process of the political machine? What changes do you believe the young today would make and what political issues would be important to the youth? Explain your answers.

  • Before or After Labor Day: When Should We Start

Posted by Jesse Rodriguez at 8/21/2009 10:30:00 AM
There was a time when summer was summer and you knew that as August was coming to a close, you were getting ready for school to begin. The last week of August generally meant school supplies and school clothes.
Now the middle of August means get ready, for school creeps further and further into summer vacation.
Is this a good thing or bad thing? Is it better to look at Labor Day Weekend as the last gasp before it all begins or as the first ray of sunshine after we have already started the grind?
You tell me what you think.
