A Little Bit about Me...   Personal: My name is Mary Jane Puente. I was born and raised in Midland, Texas. I moved to San Antonio in 1994, which I now call home. My husband and I have been blessed with 6 beautiful children. One boy and five girls. Their ages range from 16 years to 16 months old. When I'm not chasing my kids around, I love to read, watch Cowboys football, travel, go scuba diving with my husband and go camping with my family.    Education: I am a Midland High School graduate with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Respiratory Care from Midland College. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology. I am certified to teach high school Health Science Technology and middle school and high school science.   Professional Experience:  In my lifetime, I have served the medical community as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for over 22 years. As an undergraduate student at UTSA, I was blessed with the opportunity to work as a biomedical research assistant in Dr. Garry Sunter's virology lab and even got to present my research to fellow scientists at different biomedical research conferences across the United States. The title of my research was "The Response of Arabidopsis Serine/Threonine (AKIN11) to Geminivirus".   This is my third year teaching at Memorial High School, and I must admit---I love being a teacher!   Philosophy: Your child's education is very important to me and I believe EVERY child has the ability to become a successful young adult. I believe it is up to me, as their teacher, to unlock their potential by providing stimulating lessons in a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
