• 6.3 Worksheet

Posted by Michael Hughes at 5/21/2013 7:00:00 AM
Today you will be given a worksheet on finding volumes using the Disk and Washer formulas.  These are the same formulae and methods we read about yesterday.  Please use your resources if you are having trouble.  Also, I do not want a repeat of last weeks unproductive efforts while I was gone.  Your class already received a bad grade because of the lack of focus I saw while I was away AP testing; do not earn another (Jose and Francisco).  Again, I am available for help if you need it.

Also, don't forget our "AP Acknowledgment" is this Thursday, May 23.  If you don't know what you're bringing, then consult the list below:

    Melissa A. - Chips
    Emily A. - Strawberry Cake
Esther B. - Tres Leches Cake
    Marc C. - Dips
    Edwin G. - Candy
Emily G. - Cheese Puffs and Funyuns
    Renie G. - Chips
    Jose H. - Chips
    Francisco L. - Chips
    Billy M.  - Big Red
    Luis N. - Tea
    Ingrid S. - Bakery stuff
Jesus S.  - (Inform me of what you'll be bringing)
    Javier S. - Oreos

    Larry C. - Donuts
    Robert M. - Sprite
    Jason P. - Coke

I will be providing tacos, plates, cups, forks, fish, fire, spoons, and flowers.  For those of you who haven't signed up to bring anything, please text me as soon as possible.  Thank you, goodbye.

  • While I am away...

Posted by Michael Hughes at 5/10/2013 7:00:00 AM
Today while I am administering the AP exam, you are to work on the following:

    1. Your first priority is to finish your "essays" for Chemistry DC
    2. If you have finished your essay, then you are to complete any other remaining work for Chemistry DC
    3. If, and ONLY if, you have finished all your work for Ms. Thorman's class, then you are to work on an assignment for another class.

No one is to sit and converse; everyone must be working and be perfect.

  • AP Problems Galore!

Posted by Michael Hughes at 5/1/2013 7:00:00 AM
I have decided that the remainder of this time should be independent study.  To assist you with this, I have posted a PDF of released AP Calculus problems (with detailed solutions).  These are just like the questions we have been working with for the last few weeks.  I would like you to look over these free-response items and come to me (in class, by email, or by phone) with any questions you have.

Also, don't forget that this Friday, May 3, we have our AP practice exam.  We will be in room 100C (across from Dr. Telford's office) for the practice exam and grading all day.

The AP question bank can be downloaded by clicking here.

  • Not here today :(

Posted by Michael Hughes at 3/26/2013 7:00:00 AM
I am not in class today; here is your assignment for the period.  If you have completed the last part of Chapter 4.8, congratulations! Please start reading chapter 5.1, take summarized notes on the first two examples.  If you have not finished the assignment for 4.8, then use this time to finish it and work on anything else for chapter 4 you need to turn in.

You are to read section 4.7, starting on page 280 and ending with example 5 on page 285.  Please write your own notes for these concepts.  When you are finished writing your own notes, you have a short assignment:
