Hello all! I was born and raised in San Antonio, where I attended St. Mary's University. I double majored in Mathematics and Physics and graduated in the spring of 2006 with my Bachelor's degree. I quickly set out to complete my Master's degree in physics, and start a life of laboratory work. However, it was during this time that I decided I would rather pursue a career in education.
This is my sixth year teaching at Memorial High School and I couldn't imagine teaching anywhere else. In previous years I have taught Algebra II, Algebra II Pre-AP, Math Models, College Prep and Pre-Calculus, and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to teach AP Calculus this year. In addition to teaching, I too am a student currently in my first year at the UTSA graduate school, working toward my Master's degree in mathematics!
Like any mathematician, I have a true love and passion for mathematics. I see it as not only a tool to be used, but as the very framework for our reality. However, I am aware that not every student shares my enthusiasm. But that's okay. Even if a student lacks a zeal for math, I have never found that to impede their capacity for understanding. My main mission as an educator is to make math accessible for all students as well as an important tool in their everyday lives.
I am eager and excited about this school year, and I know that with our combined efforts it will be a great one!
