Welcome Bobcats and Parents!!!
Who am I?
My name is Mrs. Perez and I am your school Social Worker. I take to heart the following quote..."It takes a village to raise a child." With this in mind, I am very excited to be returning for my third school year to the Las Palmas Family this 2010-2011 school year!!!
What does a school Social Worker do?
I am part of a student support services team that provides small group/individual counseling as well as ongoing support and education to you and/or your child. I am your liaison between school, home and the community.
It is important to understand that there is a connection between how we feel and how these feelings are going to affect our decisions, good or not so good, we make throughout the present day and future. Through talking, learning and sharing these feelings, I will work with your child and provide him/her the tools necessary to better cope with such feelings. I will keep you updated on your child's progress so that together we can ensure a successful, social and academic life for you and your child!
Do you need to go to college to be a Social Worker?
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!! I graduated with my Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. I also had to study hard to pass my Licensure test. Hard work pays off because I received my License to practice social work from the TX board of Social Worker Examiners!
