Communities in Schools (CIS) with Ms. Diana Hernandez

Communities In Schools of San Antonio surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

By bringing resources, community agencies, parents and volunteers into schools, we create a community of caring adults who work hand-in-hand with educators. Through a holistic, one-on-one case management approach, CIS-SA is able to reach out to students most at risk for dropping out of school. If you would like your student to participate, please discuss any social/emotional, academic and/or health concerns your child is experiencing with your child’s teacher or counselor.

CIS-SA also helps families who are in need of social services. At LBJ Elementary we can help families with the following:

uniforms/clothing
school supplies
hygiene items
weekend food assistance for children
vision vouchers for eye glasses

Please note that resources are limited and there may be qualification requirements for some of these social services. CIS-SA is always looking for parent volunteers to help out with school events.
