She attended St. Mary’s University and San Antonio College, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Accounting through the online program with the University of Phoenix.

After a 20 year career in banking, Mrs. Camacho chose to work from home as a free-lance bookkeeper and tax preparer. She works with small to medium size businesses as well as individuals providing assistance in office organization, accounting services and tax preparation.

Working as an independent contractor has allowed her the flexibility and time to volunteer at her sons’ schools for the past seven years. Through these years she has been a parent volunteer, a PTA member, a designated Parent Ambassador, an Elementary School PTA President, an EISD PTA Council Secretary and a member of DEIC. Volunteering and working closely with students, teachers and staff members has strengthened her passion and admiration for the Edgewood School District and the pride it carries in our community.

" Our Edgewood District is far from finished in its continued quest to bring forth outstanding students and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of this promised venture."

“Students, respect your parents for they brought you into this world…

Respect your teachers, for they teach you about this world…

Respect your peers, for they live with you in this world…

Respect yourself, for you are the future of this world.”

Amanda L. Gonzalez | Member - Board of Managers

Amanda was born and raised on the Westside of San Antonio, Texas. She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she began her post-secondary education in Business Management. While balancing school and working as a teacher’s assistant for the Political Science Department, she readily formed a passion for government and politics. With her desire to learn more about public service, Amanda switched her major to Political Science – which she ultimately earned her first degree in. Still in pursuit of her degree, she began an internship at the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas. In the summer of 2010, she was awarded an internship with the House Committee on Public Education. She was able to meet with various stake holders to discuss the upcoming legislative agenda and further her passion for knowledge and participation in politics. That same year, she was given the opportunity to participate as a key component within her office and lend her knowledge and work on the Interim Report to the 82nd Texas Legislature.

Motivated and drawn to public policy, Amanda returned back to college and applied to the prestigious Bob Bullock Scholars Program. This program was established by Lt. Governor Bob Bullock and members of the Texas Senate. This allows students the unique opportunity to attend Baylor University, while also working full-time during the legislative sessions at the Texas Capitol. She won this esteemed placement and was assigned to work for the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs. Ultimately, she completed her undergraduate degree in May of 2011.

Amanda returned back to San Antonio to complete her graduate degree at St. Mary’s University. While completing her Masters, she worked full-time on a congressional race, and maintained a position as a graduate assistant for the Department of International Relations. Despite the demands on her schedule, she completed her Masters in International Relations, with a concentration in Conflict Resolution in just over a year.

She currently works as a Senior Campaign Manager for the San Antonio chapter of a national non-profit. As of May 2016, Amanda was appointed as a Board Manager for Edgewood ISD in San Antonio, Texas.
