Welcome to Mr. Barnett's homepage
Sixth Grade Contemporary World Cultures will focus on mastering the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for grade 6 social studies. We will do this using a lesson component called CSCOPE. In this class the student will study the culture, history, government, geography, and economy of different parts of the world, unit by unit, while mastering the various TEKS.

The year will be broken down into 13 Units, 4 units the first 9 weeks and 3 units per 9 weeks thereafter. Each unit will have a unit test to monitor success and identify areas that need further study.

For every unit, the student will receive a Unit Study Guide and calendar showing what lessons to be studying and when the unit test will be given.

Students will receive homework on Monday consisting of a minimum of 5 vocabulary terms that must be written out, illustrated, and mastered by Friday of that week. They will also receive a homework assignment on Friday that will use the concepts and material covered the previous week that will be due on Monday. This will be on top of the study requirements for the Unit Study Guide. The Study Guide must be read each day. Parents, please check to see that your child is studying the Study Guide each day.
Tutoring schedule: Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00. Any morning when arrangement has been made the day before.
